Fall — after the leaves are down, before the first freeze — is the critical window, with a spring clearing to catch what winter added.

Describe the home: rough size or stories, tree cover, and whether you're seeing overflow, staining, or drainage problems. Note any gutter guards — they help but still need checking. Downspouts and the drainage away from the foundation matter as much as the gutters themselves; if water pools near the house, say so.

This is the clearest cheap-prevention math in home maintenance: a routine cleaning costs a fraction of the fascia rot, foundation seepage, or ice-dam roof damage that a season of clogged gutters causes.
